Christmas season came and went, with cinemas given over to the usual paucity of quality. No matter, 2011 was in the final reckoning a vintage year for cinema and we went to see more films in 2011 than any other year we can remember. 2012 looks stacked with great films and promises to be even better than 2011 - give thanks to the joys of the multiplex and arthouse cinemas.
