Synopsis - The story(s) are set in London and centres around Helen, who one morning is erroneously sacked from her job at a large PR company. On her home way she rushes to catch the tube train and at this point the the story breaks of into two. From that point we see how her life proceeds within each of the scenarios. Scenario 1 is where she just catches the tube train, meets a pleasant young man called James, and when she goes back to her flat finds her boyfriend in bed with another woman. Scenario 2 is where she misses the tube train and gets mugged on her way home and has to go to hospital, and by the time she returns home her boyfriend is alone. The stories continue in tandem but how will they both pan out. |
| Review - I must admit the thought of watching a film written and directed by a star of a dreadful sitcom (Peter Howitt and Bread respectively) and starring Gwyneth Paltrow initially filled me with dread, but actually this film is very good indeed. Not only is the idea of the film pretty clever, it actually has been realised incredibly well and the potential for confusion within the plot has been skillfully avoided by the very well thought out plot. Ok so a film of this nature is never going to require huge performances from the actors, but the relaxed performances of Gwyneth Paltrow and John Hannah are tremendously well judged. All in all a very entertaining film. |
| The reasons I recommend this film are: 1. A great and innovative story that has been realised incredibly well. 2. Well judged performances by the two leads. |
