Felicia's Journey Synopsis - Felicia is a young woman living at home in Ireland with her parents. Felicia discovers that she has become pregnant by her ex-boyfriend Johnny (the man she loves) but he has since left for England. When Felicia's father makes his disapproval clear, Felicia leaves home and journeys to England to find Johnny. When she arrives she meets Hilditch a middle aged man who seems to be a very nice, especially when he helps her find accommodation and promises to help her. But Hilditch's interest seems to be growing increasingly over protective.

Review of Felicia's Journey - Felicia's Journey works extremely well, especially since the story is allowed to unfold gradually, and aided by skillfully used flashbacks, we gradually get a full sense of how both Felicia and Hilditch have grown into such characters and why they make the choices they do. Atom Egoyan is really to be congratulated for just how much atmosphere he has been able to weave into the film, and its of little surprise that he has gone onto bigger and more high profile films since. Bob Hoskins gives one of his best ever performances in the film, as does Elaine Cassidy in the title role. All in all this is a tremendously well realised thriller that, even though its plot is slow to unfold it will have you hooked from the first minute to the last.
The reasons I recommend Felicia's Journey are: 1. A superbly skillfully executed suspense thriller. 2. Excellent performances by both Hoskins and Cassidy.
