Scary
movies # 2 - The Shining
Year: 1980 Director:
Stanley Kubrick

At
number two in our list of the scariest movies is The
Shining. Here's Johnny!
The
story of a writer Jack who gets a job caretaking, with his
family, in an old hotel closed for the off season in the
secluded mountains of Colarado. Jack begins to experience
writers block, which gnaws away at him, and with the isolation
fever biting he begins a descent into madness, with his family
locked in the hotel alone with him.
The
film pervades an atmosphere of underlying foreboding
terror, in the story from thepen of horror writer supreme
Stephen King. Both Nicholson and Duvall provide great performances
of respective mania and abject terror. All that and superb
cameo performance by the legendary Scatman Crothers (the
voice of Hong Kong Phooey).
