The
time has come for you to keep your appointment with number
3 on our list - the original 1973 version of The Wicker
Man.
A strict
Presbyterian police officer is sent
to a remote Scottish island to investigate the disappearance
of a young girl whom he suspects will be offered as a pagan
sacrifice on the strange island. With the appointed day
fast approaching can he stop the sacrifice from taking place.
A
little known film upon its release, it has in recent years
it has achieved cult status aided by its Pagan themes,
a
statuesque performance by
horror movie legend Christopher Lee and the films reputation
as a superb horror thriller.
Hopefully
the release of the abjectly dismal and pointless Hollywood
remake will encourage a new audience to check out
the craftsmanship, love and inspiration that went into making
this original.
