Carrie White is a high school student that doesn't fit in but at least she has special (telekinetic) powers. Nice. When Carrie attends the school prom the girls have a cruel surprise laying in wait for her. She has a bigger surprise for them

Stephen King's first story to be made into a movie. Carrie is much more a study of cruelty and outsiders than it is about the supernatural. With some stunning and original set pieces and a decent cast led by Sissy Spacek (and including John Travolta) the whole package works particularly well.
