| Forgive
me for saying, but this is the ultimate chick movie (non-chicks
would say seeing this film once was more than enough).
The
film has incredibly simple plot. Bored 1960's Teenager taught
to "dance" by handsome older guy, they fall for each
other but her father wants better for his daughter. But love will
find a way and the medium of dance will help express it (with
plenty of corn).
To
its credit they can both dance well, and there is a certain amount
of chemistry going on here within the most predictable plot of
all time. I will never understand the fascination with film -
it's certainly no Grease. Anyway Jennifer Grey was much better
in Ferris Bueller's Day Off - now that is a great universal film
(and sort of romantic too).
