| Arthur
is the son of a millionaire, he is waited on hand and foot by
his gentleman's gentleman, and has never done a days work in his
life. He is also a drunk. He is engaged to be married to the daughter
of a well to do family but Arthur is not really in love with her.
He meets a waitress and falls in love with her, but his father
disapproves and threatens then unless he marries his fiance he
will lose his fortune and inheritance of millions of dollars.
Well, we have all been there haven't we?
Despite
having the worst title song in the history of cinema this is a
pretty good if rather flimsy film. Dudley Moore is superb as is
Eliza Minelli (what went wrong there?). John Gielgud stole the
film with his deadpan acerbic performance as Arthur's Butler.
