It's a Wonderful Life
Well
here we are at the ultimate number one
Christmas film ever (in our opinion) - It's
A Wonderful Life.
It's
A Wonderful Life is
the story of a man good man - George Bailey, who
has spent his life trying to help others wherever he
could in his Buildings and Loans company, even during
hard times. Times are had again and when the company
takings get accidentally misplaced George knows he
will have to take the blame. Pondering his life, and
what could have been, he considers his family would
be better off without him and goes off to take his
own life. A guardian angel comes down to earth to show
George see how things could have been.
An
absolute classic story (wIth shades of A Christmas
Carol). Jimmy
Stewart, playing a good man in a good film
helping us remember the spirit of Christmas
(well not the strictly religious part necessarily)
but goodwill to all men anyway. The "naive"
optimism is a huge part of the films charm and
can certainly be excused bearing in mind it was
made just after the end of World War II. If you
need something to help you regain the Christmas
spirit - this is the one.
