Being John Malkovich Synopsis - Being John Malkovich is set in Manhattan and centres around Craig, a puppeteer. He lives with his wife Lotte, whose focus always seems to be on other things, and her pets. In order to support the menagerie Craig takes a job in a strange mezzanine office, and inadvertently discovers a portal door which allows him, for a limited time, to enter the mind and, by extension, the life of the actor John Malkovich. Craig is smitten with one of his work colleagues Maxine, and shows her the portal. Maxine takes over the portal and she starts to abuse the privilege, and they start selling the service of the portal. When Maxine starts to intrude into Craig's home life, and everyone begins to want a bit of the John Malkovich experience too(including Malkovich himself) things start running out of control.

Review of Being John Malkovich - Being John Malkovich is one of the most inventive films ever made (apart from all the other excellently inventive films Charlie Kaufman has come up with). Added to that invention is the tremendously witty script and John Malkovich's tremendous performance in sending up himself, which all together makes this one of the most enjoyable films that I have seen in a long time.
The reasons I recommend Being John Malkovich are: 1. A a fantastically inventive story by Charlie Kaufman and realised brilliantly by Spike Jonze. 2. A hilarious performance by John Malkovich as John Malkovich (a part he was almost born to play).
