The Virgin Suicides Synopsis - The Virgin Suicides is set in Michigan in 1974, and centres around a group of teenage boys who are interested in the young daughters of a mysterious and quiet family who live in their street. The Lisbon sisters live with their strict teacher father and possessive mother. When one of the girls commits suicide, the girls are kept back from school and the parents agonise over whether they have been too strict. But once the girls return to school, the parents worry about what their children are getting up to and their mother locks the girls in at home. But they have tasted freedom and will not be denied forever. |
| Review of The Virgin Suicides - The Virgin Suicides is a interesting tale made into a very innovative film, and given the subject matter it is quite an achievement to have made such a movie. The relatively slow pace of the film fits in perfectly with the almost other-worldly nature of the sisters. The cast is super, and the sisters are especially well cast. The soundtrack by pastoral electronica noisenik Air is also one of the best soundtracks of all time. |
| The reasons I recommend The Virgin Suicides are: 1. A truly innovative film. 2. A superb sound track by Air 3. A superb ensemble cast. |
