Betty Blue Synopsis - Betty Blue is set in France and centres around a young and beautiful girl called Betty. After losing her waitressing job she moves in with her boyfriend of one week - Zorg. Zorgs life is quiet, and his handyman job taking care of minor works at a run down coastal resort, is very comfortable if rather drab. In his spare time he is a writer. When Betty discovers this, she persuades him to try and get his novel published, and in her ever widening mania rushes to type up the whole manuscript so that publishers can consider the work. When the novel begins to be returned rejected by publishers, Betty's mood swings and mania increase making her unpredictable and violent. Can an offer of help save Betty and their love?

Review of Betty Blue - It was once obligatory for every serious young man to have a poster of Betty Blue on his wall, so that he could see the very beautifully Beatrice Dalle looking down upon him. Betty Blue is a similarly beautifully shot film, but also with a very good story to support it. Whilst there is an obvious hollywood influence on the film, it certainly boxes far more clever than most of the other youth orientated film released during the 1980's. The performances of both Béatrice Dalle and Jean-Hugues Anglade are superb and their on-screen chemistry makes this slightly over long film well worth the effort.
The reasons I recommend Betty Blue are: 1. A gorgeously shot film. 2. A fantastic cast especially Béatrice Dalle and Jean-Hugues Anglade.
