Monsoon Wedding Synopsis - Monsoon Wedding is set in India, and surrounds the planning of a wedding in a upper middle class Dehli family. Aditi, a university educated and modern daughter, is getting married to a Hermant who has previously left India to settle in Texas, USA. The wedding is an arranged one, but the celebrations themselves self are rather disorganised. The wedding planner is falling in love with one of the family's housekeepers and seemingly cant concentrate on his job and family and guests arriving from all over the world. The stormy preparation continue with family feuds and secrets coming to the fore. But the biggest secret of all could scupper the whole event, Aditi is having an affair. |
| Review of Monsoon Wedding - Monsoon Wedding is a familiar story of old world and new worlds coming together and clashing. The basic story is very skillfully embellished by the interrelationships and sub plots of the supporting characters. The film is incredibly beautifully shot, hugely colourful and is very evocative of the vibrancy of both India and it's pageantry. The acting is mostly superb and in other places gloriously over the top, which helps in making this a tremendously enjoyable and thought provoking film. |
| The reasons I recommend Monsoon Wedding are: 1. Tremendously beautifully shot with vibrant colours capturing India and their family celebrations superbly. 2. An amazing script that covers a lot of ground without making the film feel too cluttered. |
